6 years ago yesterday I spent my first night living in Stetson East on Northeastern University's campus. It's amazing how fast that time went, because that means 10 years ago I was a freshmen in high school.

I can still remember that first day really well. After my parents had helped me set-up my room, we said our good byes and then off I went with Matt Ciociolo (Chach) to explore every freshmen dorm on campus. We met so many people that first night, and ended up leading a crew of about 15 freshmen to a party on Mission Hill. I still don't know how Matt knew about the party, but as I found out that year he knew just about everyone at the entire school. That first night I met a girl named Caitlin, a guy named Pars, and another one named Brian whom all became good friends of mine as the year went on. As a 17 year old freshmen everything was completely new to me, I had no idea what was in store for me for the rest of the year.

I'm at my parents house in New Jersey right now. I haven't been to see the new house in Florida and I don't think I'm going to get to see it on this trip. Unfortunately there is not enough time during my two weeks to make it down there, but thats not a problem because the next time I come to America I'm sure I will be exclusively in Florida.
Tomorrow I'm going into NYC to do some shopping and just to take in the city for the first time in a year.

The next Presidential election in the United States isn't until November 2008, but the campaigns seem to start earlier every 4 years. Since November of 2006 democratic and republican candidates have been throwing thier names into the race.

I have to admit I have been following it quite regularly from work. It is only Sept 2007 and I'm already sick of the politics of the whole thing. Even living on the other side of the Atlantic it is hard to ignore American politics.

I suppose that gives you a small clue as to how much power and influence the United States really has in the world. If I had to pick a candidate today it would be the former Senator John Edwards from North Carolina. He ran in the 2004 elections as Vice-President on John Kerry's campaign, but I think he was the stronger personality from the beginning.

Alot of people seem to like Barack Obama's chances of winning the nomination from his party, but I think he will end up like Howard Dean, a strong candidate 2 years before the election and then will gradually fade away as 2008 draws closer.

Only 24 hours until I am back in America, then the party begins!

Last night I went to a wine tasting event for work. There were several different types of wine, and as usual I prefered the whites to the reds. The one I liked the most was a Savignon Blanc, it was excellent and I wanted another glass of it, but we were limited to one.
It was the first time I have ever been to a wine tasting and it was just as posh as it sounds. People standing around in there best evening gowns and servers keeping every glass filled with your choice of red or white wine. The conversation was drab, as everyone spoke about work and boring business ventures. The drinks changed as the night went on, but the stuffy upperclass atmosphere remained, the chatter just shifted from work to politics.
There is another wine tasting event in Limerick in 2 weeks, which I think I have to attend as well for Interconnection. I could get used to doing things like this if I don't have to pay for it.

I am back in Ireland and back at work for another 7 days, before I head off to America next week. England was amazing as it always is. It was the first time I had seen all of my English cousins in the same room with each other in about 12 years. I would love to live over there so I could see them more often, but at the sametime I really like Ireland.
I'm excited about going back to the states next week, it will be the first time I've been back in about a year. All of my friends here think that I will go over and want to stay. I tell them all the chances of that happening are the same as the war in Iraq ending tomorrow morning. While I will be happy to visit my family and friends, I'm still in love with what I know of Europe so far.
