The next Presidential election in the United States isn't until November 2008, but the campaigns seem to start earlier every 4 years. Since November of 2006 democratic and republican candidates have been throwing thier names into the race.
I have to admit I have been following it quite regularly from work. It is only Sept 2007 and I'm already sick of the politics of the whole thing. Even living on the other side of the Atlantic it is hard to ignore American politics.
I suppose that gives you a small clue as to how much power and influence the United States really has in the world. If I had to pick a candidate today it would be the former Senator John Edwards from North Carolina. He ran in the 2004 elections as Vice-President on John Kerry's campaign, but I think he was the stronger personality from the beginning.
Alot of people seem to like Barack Obama's chances of winning the nomination from his party, but I think he will end up like Howard Dean, a strong candidate 2 years before the election and then will gradually fade away as 2008 draws closer.
Only 24 hours until I am back in America, then the party begins!
