Tonight I am hosting a party at my place, for my friend James' 21st birthday. The real star of the show is the bottle of absinth that will be in attendance. I have never tried it before, but there is much folklore around this drink. All I know about it, is that it is illegal in the U.S. so Americans go crazy for it when they are abroad, especially in Eastern Europe. I am actually getting a second bottle of it later this month, when my friend from the Czech Republic heads home for a week, I think I will keep that one as a souvenir. Happy birthday James, should be a pretty good night.

The longer you stay in one place the more you learn about it, and generally the more you want to be some place else because you find the flaws in the place that you are. Most people wish to be on a tropical island, in the warm weather, nice beaches, and care-free enviroment. If it was really like that, I don't think my mum would have ever left Barbados. Having said all that, Ireland seems to be as good a fit as anywhere for me, as a person who enjoys politics, history, and sport. This place seems to have the right combination of all three. In fact all that is missing from making me the happiest person around, is a million dollar flat in Dublin. P.S. the weather is really shitty right now, loads of rain and wind kind of reminds me of spring in Boston.

In the last few weeks I have seen alot more of Ireland, and while I was fascinated with Dublin when I first arrived here. I have fallen in love with counties Kerry and Tipperary for there expansive stretch of mountains, lakes, and fields full of sheep. I know that because of television you may feel like you've already seen it all, but it is a real experience to see it first hand. Driving along the coast in Kerry, its amazing to see the mountains coming straight out of the Ocean and rising to 3,000 meters. The various hills and mountains covered with mountain goats and sheep grazing weather its raining or the sun is shining. I would like to rent a car and go camping out in Kerry at some point in the future, for now i am back in Cork city, which has its own perks. ; ) P.S. I still love Dublin, and have yet to make it up to Belfast.
