I have long wondered how and why the NY Times is regarded as the best publication in the country. They have had there share of scandals in the past few years and seem to be just as much involved in the corporate world as Wal-Mart or Starbucks so what makes them better than anyone else? I have long thought that the best publication in the country was Newsweek to be honest. I have never read an article in Newsweek that I thought was biased leaning to the left or the right. You get the story a little more indepth than you would in the "Times" and the writing seems flawless. When you compare the NY Times to a paper like the "Boston Herald" then its easy to see how it is superior but how is it better than say the "Miami Herald" or "USA Today"?

For the second year in a row Camden, New Jersey is ranked number 1 as the most dangerous city in America. I can say that I have had the priviledge of having been to Camden. When you are in Philadelphia along the Deleware River, and you look over to Camden, it looks like a nice place. The Aquarium is right on the waterfront along with a minor league baseball stadium and a couple other really cool looking buildings. Once you venture into Camden apparently you have a 40 % chance of being shot on any given day. Amazing though how New Jersey can have the worst city on the list and then be in the top 10 for the safest cities in America. (This is a picture from USA Today of a neighborhood in Camden.)

I want to take this time to explain something about a blog I wrote last month. I wrote a short humorous take on the visit by a guest speaker in my sports writing class (Michelle Bonner). My intentions were not to offend Ms. Bonner. I wrote the blog simply as a joke. My major has been an ongoing joke now for 3 years to be honest with you. Every since my sophomore year when I talked to my parents about switching majors to something that I know I should have been doing ever since the beginning and they talked me out of it. You can't really argue with the people that are paying your tution. Plus I kinda decided maybe they were right and I can make this work for me. I just wanted to make sure that you understand that in no way shape or form did you further influence my decision with journalism. Like I said in the last one, you really have to love journalism to become a successful member of the field and clearly you love what you are doing as you portrayed too our Sports Writing class. I love History, I love Goegraphy, I love traveling, I love cultures of the world, I love sports, I have never, and will never love journalism. The best journalism course I have ever taken at Northeastern was the History of Journalism I took that my second year here and after that I thought well if every class is like this then I may just like journalism after all. I do however have a deep respect for people who work in the field, I know more about it than I ever thought I would. So I apologize for not being more specific in the first blog I wrote about your visit to my sports writing class, I did not intend for it to be a reputable news source it was written purely for humor.
P.S. I watch sportscenter religiously, and another thing this is purely my opinion tell Chris Behrman to stick to doing football highlights and the baseball homerun derby. He is a terrible baseball annoucer, mainly because he tries to annouce every baseball playoff game like it were the All-Star game.

I just got back from Maine, and I have a ton of cool pictures here are a few of them. It was a very spontaneous trip, thats why I couldn't inform you all that I was going. The setting was absolutely amazing however, a cabin in the woods on a lake with a monutain a couple hundred yards.

Do you believe that everyone has there moment? A time when you are completely in your element, when all of the peices around you fit perfectly into the sphere that is your life. I believe that for most people this moment comes at one of three times. There are the people who will never do better than there High School days, perhaps they were a star athlete, the most popular kid in school, or dating the most popular person in there school. Then there are the people who peak in college, University life being vastly different from high school, its just easier for some people to make friends in this enviroment and to come into there own. For the person who peaks in high school, University can be too much for them. They aren't the Person that they once were, they are a much smaller figure on the scale of things, and that is disturbing to them. Lastly there are the people who completely by-pass the first two and they never quite find there niche. These are the people who peak during there professional careers. However by this point they have become slightly socially awkward, but that is of less significance because they are respected at the up-most levels of there professions. (I.E. Bill Gates)
