The World According to Shawn

It's September 2012 already, and it's a year that I have been back in Ireland. I can't really put into words how much it means to me to be here, even though it hasn't been the easiest road.
2 weeks ago I went to a wedding in Cork, it was his cousin who I hadn't seen in 4 or 5 years getting married. It was my first time attending an Irish wedding, I had no idea what I was in for. Typically at weddings I have been to in America, the ceremony in the church lasted anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes and then it was off to the reception which would last a few hours. Some drinking some dancing and then everyone goes home. Irish weddings are slightly different to say the least. The ceremony in the church started at 2 pm and was over around 3:30 and this was followed by pictures outside of the church. Then onto the reception which started around 5pm and at 6 am the next morning we were all still doing shots of whiskey at the bar. The wedding party of course didn't end there, it went into day number two which was a bbq for the bride and groom and drinking into all hours of the night. When I woke up on the third day to find people with pints in there hands I couldn't cope with how long this reception had gone on. I will be much better prepared for the next invitation I get to a wedding know that I know they are never ending.
In speaking about weddings I sadly was not able to attend Joe and Ashley's wedding in Massachusetts this summer. That would have been a great opportunity to see some friends that I hadn't in a long time and also ever since the summer I spent in a tiny apartment with Joe and Ashley I feel like their unofficial adopted 28 year old child.
