There are two times of year when sports are at there peaks in my opinion. You have the last weekend in May when the NBA finals are just beginning, the French Open is in full swing, the Stanley Cup finals are just about over, and the best of all the UEFA Champions league final is being played. The second time of year is in October, when the World Series is on, European Football seasons are nearing the mid-point, the NBA season is just starting, the Tennis season is coming to an end as well. This year I added Major League Soccer to that list.
I would consider myself a very big football fan, I've followed Manchester United of the Premier League for years, Paris Saint Germain of the French Ligue 1, and PSV Eindhoven of the Dutch Eredivisie. When I watched a couple of MLS games earlier in the season I didn't think the quality of football was as bad as people were saying, the teams just seemed to a be very defense oriented. Then after the World Cup was over Thierry Henry came to the New York RedBull and my eyes lite up instantly. This guy is a legend and he's coming to the MLS? I was elevated from casual fan of Major League Soccer to full fledged supporter. The playoffs have been on for the past couple of weeks, and they were majorly overshadowed by the World Series. Now that its over and the San Francisco Giants have won, maybe people will follow the Semi-finals and Final of the MLS Cup?
