I'm writing this post from Leicester, England. I have been over here in the UK and Ireland for a little over a week now, and of course I love it as always. This time has been a little bit different however. During all my other trips I have gone to museums or castles and visited historic landmarks. Since I arrived last Saturday, I have mostly spent time with people, my friends and my family here and I'm still having a great time.
The way of life in the UK is so different than my life in America. People seem to spend so much time enjoying there lives and not just working to make ends meat. I decided to analyze a certain aspect of what indeed makes the two places so different. I realize that what people love about the United States is that no matter what background you come from, or how intelligent you are, you are told that you can be successful. Therefore you have millions of peoples living above there means and "reaching for the stars". In the UK and maybe all of Europe as a whole, this situation is handled more realistically. People take exams which help them place into different courses in University, and your success depends almost directly on how intelligent you are or how hard you are willing to work in school. Due to the way things are, people place into jobs that more closely fit the skills they have based on there mental capability. While this might seem harsh to most people, its simply realistic to me. You live to do a job that fits you, as opposed to having D students end up as President.
