I will be out of work next week, and I can't wait. I will have the time to travel around California and see some of the places I have been dreaming of for years. Daragh and co. left last week and then Damien arrived on Monday afternoon from England.
The plan is to drive up to LA this weekend, and then continue on to San Fran on Sunday afternoon. I'm hoping it will be a fun trip, and I've heard from many different people, that I will fall in love with San Francisco.
The summer has gone by so fast I didn't realize until yesterday, that in only 2 more weeks my life will be back to normal. No more crazy drunken nights with the Irish, and no more random nights out with Paddy and Darren. I will go back to sitting in my apartment on week nights, and maybe one night out per weekend. San Diego was a very boring and depressing place before June 1st for me and after August 3rd it will go back to that. Enjoying life is all about who you are with, not where you are, and unfortunately for me, my friends live miles away from the sunny weather, the beautiful beaches, and the over priced real estate that is Southern California.
It's been a bout a month an a half now that I have had my friends here from Ireland, and it has been one amazing adventure after another. This past Wednesday night we went down to Tijuana, and met up with some people from Cork, and then they had a small house party last night, which was nothing short of the best night of the summer so far. There were about 10 of us all together, and we drank and enjoyed each others crazy banter, and afterwards we took a trip down to the beach, for some skinny dipping. Needless to say that was my first time in the company of 9 other people as naked as the day I was born, but also my first time naked in the ocean. I must say it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be.
Once the summer is over I know I will look back and say that this was the best summer of my entire life. We are only half way through it and it's already pretty close to having that title.
