Haven't done two post in one day in a long time, but today is one of those days. So I left the apartment and was walking towards, Grand Ave. when I was stopped by a pick up truck with two white guys listening to obnoxiously loud music and singing along. Then the guy yells to me "East County Motherfucka" and then he says you gotta wear green man, and take the shirt off his back and tosses it out the window to me. Then he says " you wear that shit and you will get all the bitches in PB." That my friends is the shirt above. I swear the craziest most random things happen to me.

I've been enjoying going to the beaches out here so much, the water is a bit cold at the moment but its just so nice being only a few blocks away from all the most famous beaches in California. MTV used to have there summer beach house at Mission Beach which is only a mile or so away from here, and also Bay Watch was filmed mostly on Pacific beach, La Jolla, and Mission as well. On monday i start working at my new job which I am excited for, if for nothing else the opportunity to make decent money and get a few things done that have been on my to do list for a while. This week was a great week for sports everywhere. Tiger Woods was the most impressive to me, he played injured through the entire US Open and managed to win, which elevates him in my eyes to the best active athelete in sports right now. A little more than a week ago, Rafael Nadal won his fourth French Open title which is amazing considering the guys that he beat to get there. He is still my favorite tennis player and I still consider tennis to be the ultimate one-on-one sport, but I can't even begin to say how much more impressive Tiger's win was in the US Open. Infact this is one time I think the media under-exaggerated how amazing the win was. The Celtics also won there 17th championship this week, which I was really happy about because Kevin Garnet and Ray Allen really deserved it, they had been stars on losing teams for a long time. As for me I hope to get in as good of shape as any of the guys that I mentioned above, I will start going to a gym after work as soon as possible. One of my goals for the year is actually to be comfortable with my body enough to go to the beach in a speedo.

So after my first full week in San Diego, I have decided two things. One I would like to stay here for the next couple of years unless I get the opportunity to move back to Europe. Two I want an apartment in the Bankers Hill area of the city. Right now I am living in Pacific Beach, which is comparable to Mission Hill in Boston, lots of college students and recent grads living life as if they are on a permanent Spring Break. Its an area I would have liked to live in a few years ago, now I want something a bit more mature for lack of a better word. I don't start my new job until the 23rd of June which means that by the time I start working it would have been 3 months since I left my job in Ireland. In that 3 months I have done quite alot. I spent 2 weeks in England, a few nights in Boston, a couple of nights out in New York City, drove to Florida for a week, and then finally moved to California. Not bad for a guy without an income for the last 3 months eh. A friend of mine who is a graphic designer is working on a big project right now and he showed me some of his work. He lives in Portugual and plans on coming to America for a few months to work for a design company in New York. I said I would display the piece I liked the most on my blog, so tell me what you think of it?

Today was a pretty eventful day out here in San Diego. My friend Joe Dooling and I went to Tijuana, Mexico for the afternoon, and hung out in a few places along Revelucion Blvd, the beers in all of the bars are only a dollar there, can't beat that. Then we came back into downtown SD and went to a Padres game. I was really excited about going because they were playing the New York Mets. The game lasted 10 innings and ended on the worst note possible. The Mets put in reliever Pedro Feliciano in the bottom of the 10th, and he gave up a game winning walk off homerun to the first better he faced. I had only seen probably 5 walk off homeruns ever on TV, and this was the first one I have seen at a live game and it was to the most unlikely of all players on the Padres, Scott Hairston. I'm pretty sure now that the Mets season is a lost cause, and they can start the rebuilding process because there is no way they can go into next season with the same guys and expect to be any better than they are right now. That pic of Carlos Beltran at bat I took in the top of the 10th inning when I thought the Mets were going to put up a run and actually win the game Tomorrow I think we are just going to spend the day chilling on the beach and enjoying the wonderful weather out here. Its amazing how nice weather never seems to get old. I still am not sure if I am going to get to stay out here on a permenant basis yet, but I'm starting to get used to the idea of being here for a while after only 4 days.
