I had a look at my recent page visitors for The World According to Shawn and I have to say that I'm surprised. In my past 100 visitors I have had people from about 20 different countries reading my blogs. Most of the visits were still from people in the United States, but France and Ireland were tied for second place. I've somehow managed to attract readers from Uppsala, Sweden and Tbilisi, Georgia, thats Georgia the country not the state. Other viewers were from the Dominican Republic, Germany, Canada, Bulgaria, Italy, Czech Republic, India, and the United Kingdom.
I'm not sure how I managed to attract people in all those places with my crap writing, and sometimes boring life, but thanks anyway for checking out my blog out of the millions there are in the world now.

Last night I went out to a nightclub in Limerick called Daffy's and I must say it was one of the worst looking places I have been to since I've been in Ireland. It was like we were walking into someones basement, and then the crowd inside was a rave crowd, where everyone of them was off there faces on ecstacy. I was watching a bunch of people dancing very badly in a circle and starting to get that sick feeling in my stomach. There was only one person who could save my night or so I thought. I asked the bartender if they had any Captin Morgans Rum, and when he said no, I felt that sick feeling get worst. Then I remembered in the absence of rum, vodka is the next best thing. I started on vodka and redbulls, and instantly felt better. Then the most amazing thing happened. I was standing near the dancefloor and a woman in her mid 40's came over and asked me if I was drinking vodka. I said yes, and she emptied a double shot of vodka into my glass, I began to think is this my lucky night? As the night went on i felt myself getting more and more relaxed, to the point where I decided I had seen these Irish people dancing badly long enough, and went over and broke up there circle by dancing right through it. I must admit that Vodka is still playing a part in the writing of this blog right now. For the first time in a very long tiem I am writing a post while still under the influence. I think they tend to be the better ones anyway. In any case this is just one example in my life of how alcohol helped save another subpar night, what would I do if I lived in the time of prohibition?

This past weekend I went to Dublin with Damien and James again. We have been going up there about once a month now for the past few months and everytime it gets better. I would love the opportunity to move up there for a few months possibly even longer than that, but for the moment I'm working in Limerick, which is proving to be alot more difficult than I thought. I'm about a month an some into this assignment and its going at snails pace because of several obstacles.

A few weeks ago the Mets managed to make the trade of the century so far, by getting Johan Santana away from the Twins for next to nothing. When they signed Pedro Martinez 3 years ago I thought that simply because they had him all there pitching problems would be solved, but now that they have Martinez and Santana, there pitching problems are solved. The have the best number 1 and 2 starters of any team in Baseball this year. 2008 should be the year they add another World Series title to the mantle, as long as they don't face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series who I'm predicting will get there very easily this year. Good Luck Mets!
