I read everyday about the U.S. soldiers in Iraq that are killed by roadside bombs or suicide attacks, and I wonder if Americans knew that this total would reach 3,840 would they have been so quick to rush into the war.
I rememebr back in 2002 having an argument with my friend Tim Buckley about the war when it was in it's infancy. He was vigorous in his support of the Bush Administration and the War. I thought it was stupid to attack Saddam Heussein who hadn't really been a threat to the world since 1991. They were blaming him for weapons of mass destruction at the time, and supporting the terror group that attacked the United States on September 11th. It is now 2007 and no weapons of mass destruction have been found and propoganda is the only thing which can link the former Iraqi leader with Al Queda.
The people I feel bad for in all of this are the United States soliders. The young people dying everyday for a cause that is not know by the eevryday man. A cause that only the American governments highest officials are aware of. If indeeed it is only to promote democracy around the globe, that sounds a lot like the crusades and they were in a large part unsuccessful.
